I was impresed when i saw the results, cause i was hearing alot that satellite sucked, adn that it was slow, but when i saw that, man i caouldn't believe it. i did it again, cause i thought it it was just the internet cache, i deleted it, and did it again. i even hooked up my friends computer, and i got the same thing. this is kool.

I'm glad you posted that. DirecWay had tricked me into thinking I had great download speeds and that everything was correct. Now that I can compare my speed to another sattelite users speed, I can see that I'm running extremly slow. My speeds aren't even half of what you got.

As I posted in your other thread, that is bogus, satellite is incapable of those speeds, its cached.

Yea, they don't come like that out of the box.  I think it's cached, Dway doesn't have any packages that offer close to that speed.  Maybe Spaceway might have at one point in the future but that's another story.   Cool

Smile Yeah you are lucky ....thats one of the fastest I have seen for a SAT connection:) if its accurate And welcome to the site hope you enjoy and tell your friends about the cool site you found..............

I disagree , I used the newest DirecWay set up and hit well over 500K they lame thing is the FAP (Fair Acess Policy) You can only DL 150mb per hour or something like that. I have 6mb/s cable now and will not switch,

To jsun, anything above 3 Mbps down is bogus and/or cached, if you saw with satellite 500 kB/sec then what is called a burst.

When I do a backup of my domain I usually see anywhere from 500 kB/sec to 1 MB/Sec, burst speed.

Sattelite is nice only if it is your only option. If DSL, Cable or other broadband is available use it! The latency on sattelite is a drawback & so is the upload speed. Oh & another thing, the fair access policy stinks like "jsun" said...

I have exeeded it also Mad Esp with a download accelerator. Bad weather can also be a problem Sad

Arrow I just purchased (because it was my only choice), DirecWay's very best Commercial Class System and Service.  $1000.00 bought the modem, .98m dish and 'pro' installation (he actually knew what he was doing).  The account is $129.99 monthly for 'up to' 1.5Mbps 'down' and an "enhanced" 256Kbps 'up'.  Signal Strength stays locked at 97 but rainfade will take us down to as low as 93 (torrential downpours).

As far as the first post goes it just isn't possible to go that fast due to latency issues, and about 1,000 other issues inherent when using Satellite connections.  As I have indicated, I'm using DirecWay's "latest and greatest" Commercial System and running as fast as their systems will go ...and even with network congestion we never fall below 941Kbps.  There are NO satellite retailers or companies that are advertising anything higher that "up to" 2.0Mbps ...and even then they admit it has to be primo conditions in order to get it up THAT fast.

Soooooooo....I would either get my eyes checked if you think you are getting speeds like that, or make sure you are not still plugged into the cable modem box!  Sorry ...don't mean to step on anyone's toes in here, but I do believe in the promotion of Truth when at all possible.  This post is 100% truth ...so help me.
