im new to this forum so please try to use some words that i may understand a little in replying to this post.

everytime during the weekdays at 6-11 pm est my connection just stinks. its just as slow as dial up and i get so frustrated. anytime after or before its fast as hell. i think it may be the peak hours but i dont think that it'll hurt my connection that bad? i want to do something about it but i have no idea what. and also i play madden 05 online alot and when i do play it during the peak hours its so laggy.

any suggestion will be appreciated. if i cant find what the problem is i may even have to switch to dsl.

Oh i have road runner as my ISP, and i live in philadelphia. im currently using a 4 port linksys router. i have windows xp home edition and i have almost no spyware and have a ton of ram cuz i know to make sure that i keep my computer clean.

Welcome to the forums.

Post some speed scores and your advertised speed, and I'm sure someone here will be able to help.

Who do you get service from? If we know that, we can look at the packages available on their website in relation to the amount you pay each month and find out your advertised speeds.

hey Braver and welcome to the forum Smile

make a tracert to testmy.net both during peak time, and one with no peak

go to start-run type cmd and hit enter

type tracert testmy.net and hit enter

copy the text and paste it here so we can see it

Also make a speedtest at Non peak hours.

It usally tells where the bottleneck is, when a nod is overloaded ping goes skyhigh

lets see how it looks like when he post at peak time.
