1 45 ms 44 ms 44 ms gf-dyn-gateway.gtec.net [66.117.105.1]

thats the problem

your ping should be around 5-15 ms to that 1 hop.

call your ISP and ask them to check signals for you, also show them this traceroute.

good luck

I guess I am screwed!called isp they are telling me that is normal ping time for them. Only bad thing about living in a small town they are the only choice for broadband here. Tech guy told me they limit bandwidth. I am paying $70 per month for 1024/512. They have a 2meg servie for $101 per month.

thats sad, its like robbing ppl

ping should be low like 5-15ms when you dont downloading/uploading

and increase only when you reach your cap.

seems like they limit your speed by changing the overall responsetime to your gateway.

alot of gamers would hate that cos all they want is a low ping and use very small bandwidth.

keep your RWIN as small as possible, try 8760 and if it dosent work, add 1460 each time, so next value is (8760+1460) = 10220, or try it reversed (8760-1460) = 7300

good luck

A 10220 rwin setting seems to work the best. I am still complaining to the phone company. I live in an area where there the population is about 10,000 for the whole county. I am about 9000 feet from the CO. I am getting numbers but at last count their were only about 450 DSL subscribers in the whole county!

I told tech support I would like to get what I am paying for. Explained to him in these term "How would you like it if everytime you went to the store and bought a 12 pack of beer and when you get home there are only 7 beers in it". He said he understands and will get back with me. I will keep you all posted!!

That tracert is weird. There was a hop added, yet the rest of the tracert is the same. I'm afraid nothing will improve.

I agree, the gateway is on hop 2 now

1     2 ms     1 ms     1 ms  gf-dyn-119.gtec.net [66.117.105.119]
2    48 ms    49 ms    49 ms  gf-dyn-gateway.gtec.net [66.117.105.1]

But you can try larger RWIN´s until speed dosent go up anymore

just add 1460 each time like before

good luck

evil  OMG  Crooks, what a ripp off 4such slow speeds for that amount of money, sad thing is those f@#$ing idiots  are allowed to get away with this........ if a guy goes into a circle K and robs them for $70.00 he goes to jail for 5 years, but an ISP can rip you and many others off month after month and suffer no consequences Sad yeah, yeah I know nobody has to buy from them but, when its the only game in town ya don't have much choice. scumbags......
