Wow, incredible download for wireless and your upload is nice too. What are your advertised speeds?

Well,   I'm on Cox premium.   I agree these are great wireless speeds.   I'm using D-link products and it's 108Mps,   I have high gain antennas on all the remote stuff.

Also,  just a note for people that might not know.  I've had three of my own cable modems and although people can argue about who's is best the real issue is make SURE your modems are DOCSIS 2.0,   My speeds increased by 40%!!!!  just changing modems from a DOCSIS 1.1 to a 2.0 system!!

This is mine. My isp for christmas decided that they would make low speed and high speed DSl ( i got the low end now).
::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 366 Kbps about 0.4 Mbps (tested with 2992 KB)
Download Speed is:: 45 kB/s
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/
Bottom Line:: 7 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 22.76 second(s)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=0EUCITYXP

I was almost triple that. Sad part is i have three times the machine now. So now I am even more bummed due to the fact that I am a big time gamer. Maybee I should spend the extra $10 so i can go from 500k to 2mb a sec. Sad is me cry :huh: :booty: to my isp

hey Lantom and welcome to the forum Smile

thats some speed, way above your cap downstream, what tweaks are you running?

also test this and see what you get on 12 MB test

I would go for it, but it depends on what you using your connection to, 500k is enough for playing games, in games low latency / packetloss is the most important

Hey Vanburen:

Here is the download of the 12mg file.

::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 5308 Kbps about 5.3 Mbps (tested with 12160 KB)
Download Speed is:: 648 kB/s
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/
Bottom Line:: 95 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 1.58 second(s)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=XBFGDRW88

Again,  this is still over the wireless and I made no effort to clean the system prior to testing.  Honestly,  one of the reasons my downloads are fast is my system.  I'm running a P4 3.0C but it's clocked at 4 on Vapor Cooling.  Also big memory cache on HDD's insures no delay as everything dumps to 256M Cache controller then to HDDs

I suspect if I did wire direct and cleaned things up I could get 6-8mps consistently  I had one 7 mps already before I became a member.

take care and let me know what ya think.

I don't think your rig is responsible for the high speed. The main factors are your true cap, tweak settings, and network hardware. Unless your system is prehistoric, it can handle such speed.

I know,  you think I'm crazy.....    I have this P-4 on vapor,  a P-4 1.8 & a  P4 1.1M.   They are all on the same network and behind the same router.  They fall off in download speeds corralated to processor speed....

Test it for yourself,  if you change the clock 20% on your system you should see a lower average.

Hey:

To add to what I said,  the CPU usage on my systems during the 12mg download was between 20-40% during the whole process.   I'm sure with that kind of CPU utilization speed matters!!!!!

the reason i gave you the link to 12 MB test is, thats its been proved several times that 2992 KB test is not really accurate above 5 Mbps, i PM CA3LE about it lets see whats happen.

my suggestion is that if you score above 5 Mbps on 2992KB test you get auto forward to the 12 MB test

ok

1) get over it. You paid way too much for a system, or have parents who must realy love you,  and are fishing for compliments.  Which BTW is über lame.

2) Your cpu speed has no effect on your connection. I pay for a  3000 kb connection. On my 500 MHz emachines, with 100% cpu load i manage to pull off 3.8 mb/s @ 456 kB/s. Must be my vapor action? Or was it the scrubbing bubbles?

Bottom line is you have a nice connection. Enjoy.

First,  it's unfortunate that you feel the need to be an ass......

1) I'm not an "expert" like you on systems,  but I am smart enough to read when the numbers change.   The information I gave you about the speed drop is real.  Perhaps your just not sharp enough to know what makes it happen or to devise a way to make them all run at the same speed..  Try saying I don't know rather than just trying to rip members!!!

2) Look at VanBurens post right before yours.  It's clear and tells my WHY he asked me to test 12Mg and gives me the logic behind it.  Perhaps you can have him help you with your writing.

3) Yes my parents do love me thanks for noticing.

4) I don't "fish" for complements in computer forums as all to often some 19 year old decides to go heals becuase he's well 19!!!!!

My god grant you age and wisdom soon.....
