I have a Satellite and the FAP kills me on a large file download.
Does anyone Know of a good free Download Manager that I can use?

I used one of these back in the days of AOL.. so that if i would get disconnected it wouldnt loose the download.. http://www.amazesoft.com/  I think that is the one that I used..

I have used Download Accelerator (Plus?) and Netlimiter... I like Netlimiter better, although it isn't a download manager

what does a download manager really do?
does it speed up ur donwload or keep it at a constant speed?

it can do that.. but also if you get disconnected and the server supports resumes.. you can pick up where you left off.

oh thats cool to be able to resume, wish i knew that when i had dial-up.
