After "tweaking" and such.........running XP Pro .......

 HINT: I used a program called "MODEM BOOSTER" and very simple to use..to tweak and optimize my whole system and it got me out of the gutter.  I had DirecWay but I ditched them. Their   "tech advice" wasn't worth two cents...and slower than dial-up.  Now I am flying!!!!!

Mike, just to let you know, Adelphia is being bought out by Comcast, so you'll be seeing a speed increase when that does happen.  I'm sure you'll be glad to hear that.

I have Adelphia as my ISP as well, but I'm paying for their "Premium Package."  4000/512, yet I average around 600k up.  I'm ditching Adelphia later this year, because FIOS (Fiber Optics) is rolling in my area.  15000/2000 for $40 a month.  HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

You have proof??  Perhaps what you are trying to say but were very far off is, Comcast and Time Warner made a joint OFFER for adelphia.  That in no way shape or form says that they are simply being bought out by Comcast.  As far as speed increases, there will be an increase either way, it is not going to stay at 3mbit forever, in fact rumors are there testing the different network areas as we speak for stability.  As i posted in a previous post, Adelphia is aggressively updating there network to DOCSIS 2.0 standards which no other company is doing at this point, others are only at DOCSIS 1.1.  Completion last i was told was at 80%.  Once fully implemented, this will blow all other cable ISP's out of the water since DOCSIS allows for many many more features and somethign we all like, speed.

NDT gives me:

running 10s outbound test (client to server) . . . . . 499.13kB/s
running 10s inbound test (server to client) . . . . . . 4.31Mb/s
The slowest link in the end-to-end path is a 10 Mbps Ethernet subnet

Also, Adelphia is doing speed upgrades. 34 areas are testing these. By the end of the month or so should be the final date for them Smile
