Thanks for the welcome my friend. My upload averages 30-31 kb's. About normal for Charter I hear. As for the download speed, the average is 2500-3500, depending on when I test it. You lost me on the 3mb test question...is there a place on testmy.net to specifically get a 3 mb test.

Welcome Bam, you can use this link to compare your results with that of other users of certain ISPs.

http://testmy.net/host_stats.php

Try it out, its interesting. I like how bad RR compares to Cox when RR is always talking all that gangster smack. :haha: :haha:

if your cap is 3 Mbps and you get 2.9 i say its  nothing more to do. You can increase RWIN even more and get good burstspeeds and better score on speedtests, but that wont help the true speed, it might even slow you down over high latency routes.

Oh you was on Win 98se, that explains it, the TCP stack is not very good for broadband and also Norton take some resourses

I have Norton Internet security 2005 and cant see any performance drop, but im on win XP pro.

I bet speed will be back when you upgrade and install win XP.

That's because the server is down when he's sleeping. He can't sleep with his computer on, because of the noise.
