hey

Is it possible to make a office Word document a read only file i.e. when i send a word document to some 1, the person can only read it  but are forbidden from making any changes 2 it.

Right click on the file and check the read only box....
Still if they are determined to change it they can by unchecking the box, or if they make a change, when they go to close it out it will ask if they want to save changes, if they click yes it will change.
All it does is make it so you can't make change accidentally.

I /think/ you can password protect it with Word so they need a password to edit it, however I have no idea how to do this.


edit: Tools/Options/Security.
Password to modify.

well how do some people do it. I got a letter from Dell about PC specs - i could only read the whole document but could not change anyone of its content, not that i wanted to but was wondering how i'm able to do this.
