whats an average CPU usage rate. - what should one keep it at.

mine at moderate load will be under 20%

Just on Testmy. mine is 5% , firewall (sygate, AVG, incredimail , on )
yo getting 100% something is up, what the hell is going on in the background ??
that would scare me near to death,
my proccesses are 31, and PF 210 ,   just checked

a constant high CPU load will also increase operating temp, and therefore life span, high end CPU cooling fans should be installed in computers with high CPU usage.

I run at 100% as well.  If I don't have both copies of folding running, under 5% or so under normal usage.
