Hello fellow DirecWay users. After 5 years of being stuck with a 28.8 kb connection, yesterday i purchased the DirecWay satelite in hopes of a much faster connection.  Although interested in downloading and other things which hopefully will be boosted in speed, i was wondering in a DirecWay masters oppinion if it can be used at all for gaming.  Mostly i am interested in World Of Warcraft.  Also, interested in if Xbox live can be hooked up through the DirecWay and is playable.  Thanks for you time,

Dialup upload speed: 5 - 6 kB/s ; Horrible for gaming.
DW upload speed: 5-10 ; Better off with dialup.

also dial up has lower latency, a good 56k should have a latency between 100- 200ms on a server in same town.

Sattelite is between 600-1000 ms (atleast thats what ive seen)

most gameengines is not made for pings above 300 ms

Ummm, I've posted this before, and perhaps it has to do with the fact that I'm using a Commercial Account with an upload factor (enhanced) of 256k, but my kiddos are able to play Graal and Starwars Galaxies (Sony) without any troubles (Using a DW6000, fast computers and a .98m dish).  They have tons of other online games as well, so I assume they all are performing well enough, yet I've no doubt they would be more playable if it were NOT for the latency ...which is indeed horrible.

Just thought I'd toss in my two cents there ....because there ARE some who cannot play anything online due to the speed issues (latency)....yet we seem to be one of the exceptions even though our speeds are consistently lower than the DW4000 users.  Go figure .....

Cheers!
