Thats a low signal, but higher signal wont increase speed, they're not related, unless of course no signal.

Speed is very nice, as suggested try a larger test.

Clarification edit.

Say bedbem,

I just posted a "How To Point Up Your Own Satellite Dish" guide in the DirecWay part of this site.  I am sure that since you have such a low signal that you would benefit from the article.  An SS that low WILL affect your speed to a certain degree ...but not tooo terribly much now.  (I am assuming you are running a DW6000 modem gauging the speed you have posted ...which is excellent, but they may be a bit more to be found.  In your browser (IE6), under Tools ---->Internet Options ----->Connections ------>LAN Settings ....ensure that both proxy boxes are checked.  Then click on the Advanced button and make sure it says 192.168.0.1 with Port 87.  (Incidentally, the LCCU from DirecWay is fine, but it will TURN OFF those proxy boxes ...and that isn't what you want with a DW6000 (because it is self-hosting you see).   Leave it to DirecWay to leave that info out about it's best product.  lol...

You should be running an MTU of 1500 because ALL of DirecWay is based upon 1500 ...that goes double for the DW6000's (oddly though, some DW4000s do better with a slightly lesser number like 1460 or 1480 ...which doesn't make sense but it works for them)!  Your cables should be double-checked for tightness and CLEAN THEM INSIDE if they have been sitting longer than 3 months!  (use electrical cleaner and a toothbrush to get in there)!  The dish does NOT need to be grounded on these newer systems because the grounding in the coaxial cable is more than enough assuming that it's connected to a grounding block and rod using 10guage wire.  ((But that is nitpicking)).  Of course, a spyware free system is imperative, and a hard drive that is nicely defragged will make a wondrous difference in speed.  If the distance from the modem to the dish is under 125 feet you are fine.  If it is greater then you should consider putting in an 'in-line amplifier' on the RECEIVE WIRE ONLY >>>AND WITHIN 25 FEET OF THE DISH.  (If you put an amp on the transmit wire you'll fry your emitter/transducer/"radio" in just a matter of seconds).  Of course, the higher the quality of the cabling used, the 'cleaner' the signal will be ...but it will not bring you faster speeds, just less errors.

Judging by your speed you have posted, which is excellent, you are running near the top of what DirecWay has to offer.  I have a Commercial Account with the .98m dish and I am only slightly faster than what you have posted ...so you're fine.  Besides, you don't WANT TOO much speed because you'll just hit your FAP limit that much faster ...so whatz the rush right?  heheh...  We'll just have to be happy with what we have until DWay decides to herald in something better.  Given the number of complaints they are now receiving, I am praying that they open up the bandwidth a bit, relax their FAP, and let their customers enjoy some REAL broadband for a change.  The potential for very high speeds is there (just like the military satellites I used to use when in the S.E.A.L. team) ...the problem is that DirecWay is "capping" everyone ...and it is my personal belief that the DW6000 modems have a built-in cap of around 1000Fbps ...give or take 200.  I've tried everything I know ...including opening it up, and NOTHING makes it run any faster unless NOC decides to 'open the gates' ...so there you have it right there.  THEY are in complete oontrol of your speed if you are using a DW6000 ...which is why they are making it so ATTRACTIVE to the users of the older DW4000's ....they WANT them to "move up" so that they too can be "capped" ...nice of them to offer such wonderful products huh?  Smile

Cheers!
