Ya bro..try a larger file.  I did the speed check the other day using the medium file and it was like 3500+, then I did the larger file twice and it had me at 1300.   Confused

Cablenut Tweaker

does cablenut work on dway 6000?
Cablenut work for all types of connections, but there is no tweaks made for DW6000 so you need to edit those values by yourself.

Alot of ppl does not recommend tweaking DW6000, and some ppl have done tweaks and say they work but im not sure if its just burst speed

when you test speed make sure to use atleast 2992 KB test to make sure burst is not fooling you

good luck

Im also on DirecWay this is what i get on my DW4000. The only tweak im using is the Tcp optmizer. I ger people asking me why i use a MTU of 1460? Ive used the MTU of 1500 and 1460. My connection is faster using the MTW 1460 i dont know why?

This is my speed:  137 users online

Because your true MTU is 1460 and 1500 only makes it slower?

Hey There BrawnyDawg,

I'm using a DW6000 with a .98m dish and Commercial Account.  My best possible speed has been 1088Kbps, some are faster, some are slower.  For one, Dr. TCP gave me a small boost in speed, yet all I had it do was turn on "Time Stamping" (made it say yes), the rest of it I left "as is" because it simply won't work with a DW6000.  I have included a copy of Dr. TCP at the bottom of this post for your convenience.  Just launch it, turn the Time Stamping "on" (set it to YES), exit the program and reboot.  For the DW6000 you'll want to keep an MTU of 1500.  Users of DW4000s fair better using an MTU of 1460 for some reason (even though ALL of DirecWay uses an MTU of 1500 ...go figure)!   :tongue2:

The only other "tweak" is to get into your browser (assuming you have Internet Explorer 5 or 6), and "check" both Proxy boxes ( Tools --->Internet Options ------>Connections--------->LAN Settings).  Right there put a check mark in both "proxy" boxes then close/open your browser (or reboot if you are NOT using XP) ...and it should add about 200Kbps to your speed.

Also, under Tools - Internet Options - Connections - LAN Settings ...then click on ADVANCED.  Make sure it says 192.168.0.1 and Port 87, if not please change it!  lol...  Below that, in the Exceptions Box, add these values for "enhanced" operation:

DirecWaysupport.com;192.168.0.*   <---------just cut&paste that into the exceptions box.  If you use a Router, like a D-Link or similar and know its IP#, add that in there too (with no space ...just put in a <  ;  > then add the #.  My Router has a number of 192.168.2.1, so I just added a "semicolon" after the * then entered that number so that I could access the Router Menu from my Browser.  Voila!

Hope that gives you a bit more speed.  If not, you'll need to fight it out with DirecWay @ 1-866-347-3292   Now, I'm sure that you know that if you open your browser then enter 192.168.0.1, hit Enter, then click on the "green" light that it will show your Signal Strength right?  Well, Signal Strength has nothing to do with speed unless it is terribly low.  Mine hangs around a 97 using a .98m dish ...yours will vary according to dish size and site 'conditions'.

If you have already 'run' DirecWay's LCCU, that's fine, but the LCCU will "turn off" the two Proxies I just told you to turn on!  (That's because they do not have an LCCU made for DW6000 users yet).

Don't be afraid to repost or e-mail me if you need additional assistance.  (...to include how to point your own dish for maximum Signal Strength).

Cheers!

So I did the Dr. TCp and here is the result.  No real progress.
What is MTU? and Where is it?
I use Mozilla and have already done the LAN settings.

My signal strength is around 53.
