I know this is probably an error, but I love these results anyways.
::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 1573 Kbps about 1.6 Mbps (tested with 579 KB)
Download Speed is:: 192 kB/s
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/
Bottom Line:: 28 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 5.33 second(s)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=JBOMQBVLD
It would be nice if that was truly my speed. If DirecWay could just decide to be nice to all of us and give their customers a boost. But DirecWay being being good like that will probably never happen. Hopefully one day DirecWay will either lower their prices, or increase everyone's speed, or do away with the FAP. I'm willing to bet that I could die of old age still hoping for that though. If you are reading this, looking for a point to me saying all this, there is none. Just wanted to say it.

Hello again whiteolorin,

Yes, it most certainly WOULD be nice if DirecWay would GIVE a little instead of constantly taking, but do not be looking for them to provide any "boost" to you ever.  Remember that the people with the FAP Limits of 167MB USED to have FAP Thesholds of nearly double that number, but so many accounts were 'oversold' (for the love of money of course), that DirecWay had to 'take away' from their customers in order to have enough bandwidth to go around.  (God forbid that they buy more and give the customer a break)!  They did so without hesitation because they KNOW that you would not be using them if you had a choice, and that you would probably not want the legal hassle of breaking your "contract" (although their contract is in no way legally binding within any state in the United States ... I live in Costa Rica and it 'holds no water' here in the least)!  But, it is all that is available so I'm stuck.  They won't do away with FAP either.  They and several 'upcoming' competitors all use the "shared bandwidth" technique ...and thus the only thing we can look forward to is watching them slowly take away from us until we either just shut down our machines, or (hopefully) a Cable Service of some type will magically appear when least expected.

Sorry to sound so negative, but I've read their directives and "future intentions."  (so to speak).  There is absolutely NOTHING for the customers to look forward to except higher prices each year and the erosion of FAP threshold limits.  And that, as Paul Harvey would say, is the rest of the story.

Cheers!
*Nothing lasts forever.  Sooner or later something will happen to blow them out of the water, so I keep trying to view them as a temporary pain that will soon pass ...something like a kidneystone or the 'clap' you see?  heheh...

You never know.

Hey there wmmc;

Would you believe that Wild Blue is going to be built (in fact it already is) upon the very same framework as DirecWay ...right down to using (mostly) the very same Satellites, AND a FAP policy (which they refuse to be "exact" about when asked to describe).  Also, they are having Hughes build the new satellite (named Horizon if memory serves) that will be the backbone of their "new" system.

WildBlue has been around for quite awhile operating on low-band (Ka) frequencies, yet this new satellite is going to carry the ability for "full band" transmissions/receptions ...there are just several legal changes being made to benefit DirecWay with an eye to FCC Regs and the fact that DirecWay's license to operate is not legal by FCC laws.  DirecWay and Wild Blue will BOTH be sharing bandwidth off that same satellite ...so in a nutshell Wild Blue is just another "shuck and jive" that DirecWay is pulling (like when they changed their names from DirecPC to DirecWay when they lost the lawsuit), to 'fake out' the public into buying into yet another nightmare.  The only difference is that DirecWay will remain in business and will operate under the Wild Blue communications license (because DirecWay's license to operate by FCC standards is illegal).  Wild Blue is just a legal maneveur to make DirecWay "legal" according to US (FCC) bylaws.  Period!  Same architecture, different face.  Crooked tactics.  Typical big business!

* I've presented this evidence before yet received many "NO, you are wrong" responses based upon the fact that Wild Blue is going to use the Ka Bands instead of the frequencies now in effect.  (And I mean the people that wanted to argue over it were UGLY about it ..as if I were calling their best friends or parents liars)!  Freaky!  I don't care if Wild Blue does or does not offer Internet Service.  I am just supplying facts that can easily be proven using nothing more than Google and a bit of reading!  lol...

It doesn't matter what "band" is being used for Internet Communication.  The fact is that Hughes (DirecWay) is funding almost every aspect of Wild Blue (suddenly), right down to building a brand new billion-dollar satellite in return for usage rights), another "bird" designed for DirecTV and Internet is rather obvious in the realm of evidence to me. Doesn't take a Rocket Scientist to figure out the rest of the puzzle, or at least I'm firmly convinced that I am "on the money."  Time will tell for sure.  Personally, I wouldn't TOUCH Wild Blue for several, several months.  I don't believe I need to state why do I?  Smile  However, I surely do wish they had NO affiliations with Hughes ...THEN I would have reason to get my hopes up.  But alas, there are no reasons for any such thing.  WildBlue = Hughes in my book (at the moment anyway).

If anything, I am hoping that I am 100% wrong ...but geesh, considering the evidence paints a grim picture!

Cheers!
