PERFORMING A CLEAN UNINSTALL OF DirecWay SOFTWARE

Hughes Software conflicts with earlier versions of itself, so it is wise to perform a clean uninstall of older software before installing newer, such as when someone changes from using a non-self hosting system (Dw4000) to a Self-Hosted System (DW4020 or DW6000).  (This also applies if you are simply upgrading from an older version of a DW4000 version to a newer one ...it is always best to GET RID of the old programme to avoid terrible conflicts (sometimes).

STEP 1... Click on the "START" button and then "Programs"

If you find a "DirecPC" folder, open it up and choose the "Uninstall" program
and follow the onscreen instructions.

If you find a "DirecWay" folder, open it up and choose the "Uninstall" program.

STEP 2... Restart Windows

STEP 3... Find all DPC*.*  files and delete them.

Use the "Search" utility by clicking on "Start" then "Search". Type in DPC*.*
Once the files come on screen, if they are DirecWay/DirecPC files... (which is
almost always the case, Delete them).

STEP 4. Find all OEM*.inf files and open them one at a time with Notepad

STEP 5. Delete any OEM* files that say Hughes inside.

STEP 6. Empty the Recycle Bin

STEP 7. Restart Windows

STEP 8. Run Regedit, find and delete the Hughes Network Systems folder

This is done by clicking on "Start" and then select "RUN".  In the "RUN" command dialogue box
type in <  regedit  >  and press the Enter key. From the new window that appears, select
"Local-Machine" and then "Software" and then there may or may not be a "Hughes"
folder. If there is... Highlight it and then delete it.

STEP 9. Find and delete all occasions of dpcnet5*

STEP 10. Unplug the DirecWay modems for at least 5 minutes.

STEP 11. Restart Windows

STEP 12. Unplug the adapter cable from the motherboard USB port prior to installing
a clean version of the DirecWay software.

That's all there is to it!
