Great board, just wish I understood what I was looking at.  Need help, PLEASE.  Getting horrible upload times

Comcast Cable, Motorola Modem
Linksys WRT54 G router
Wind XP
Wireless connection on Pent M, 1.6GHz, 512mb Ram.
Not sure what else you may need to help you help me.

Have run CableNut and saved settings for Fast 2k. ( I think I did it correctly)

::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 177 Kbps about 0.2 Mbps (tested with 386 KB)
Download Speed is:: 22 kB/s
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/
Bottom Line:: 3 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 46.55 second(s)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=M1G2GY66S

have run many upload tests, sometimes getting results up to approx 1 Mbps.

Have tried the trace cert as instructed in other posts, but am unable to copy/paste.  Any help with that?

Please keep the instructions simple for the computer challanged.  Thanks in advance.

Hi VanBerk,

I seem to have lost my first reply to your response, so here goes again.

Here is the test result:

http://ttester.broadbandreports.com/tweak/block:30e899e?service=cable&speed=3000&os=winXP&via=normal

RE the tracert, I am not able to copy in the cmd screen.  the copy button is unavailable, even after using select all  ????   What could I be doing wrong???????

Sorry to be so helpless.  Appreciate your efforts.

heya malew Smile

The settings looks good, my guess is you been using TCP Optimizer, you could try changing Default Send Window, but for that you will need cablenut 4.08

you can download it here http://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=1013.0

install it and open adjuster, Default Send Window field is blank, add this value 49152 and click save to registry

now reboot your pc and try again

good luck

Madet the recommended change, and got this:

::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 1096 Kbps about 1.1 Mbps (tested with 579 KB)
Download Speed is:: 134 kB/s
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/
Bottom Line:: 20 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 7.64 second(s)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=4OCI0610U

Also,  I have not used the TCP Optimizer.  (I had previously changed settings with Cablenut)

malew ,
Welcome to the site I hope you enjoy, if your setup can be "tweaked" VanBuren is the man that can help you do it.When your copying a trace in XP what you must do is,in the top left corner click on c:\ , when the window comes down scroll down to edit and then down to select all, after the screen is highlighted the window closes....go back up and reopen c:\ go to edit again but this time click on copy......now your in business, the difference is it doesn't allow you to copy as you normally would due to its "Dos" like config. If you have any more problems let us know someone will be happy to help......Keep visiting and tell your friends about the cool site you found at testmy.net>>>>>>>> good luck Smile

l guess I should mention,  the latest results are from my wired desktop.  Win XP.  Celeron 1.2 GHz.   Everything except original post has been done from this machine.  Wireless connection is all over the place.    Hope this doesn't confuse the issue.

Thanks to all!

Validation Link :: http://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=XEWH2O0TX

::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 1513 Kbps about 1.5 Mbps (tested with 2992 KB)
Download Speed is:: 185 kB/s
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/
Bottom Line:: 27 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 5.54 second(s)

no problem, happy surfing Smile

i assumed you had a 384 Kbps upload cap, but it might be 256 Kbps

so you can try the Cable & DSL 3000 256.ccs instead

you dont need to do it, if you think it works fine now

if you do choose to test it, then follow same steps as in my earlyer post, just choose this file instead
