Hey there BrawnyDawg,

Say what?  I've never had to change my proxy connection settings for ANYTHING EVER!!  What's the URL? (Not for your bank!  lol).  Just anything else that is asking you to change your settings.  Are we talking IE6 here?  And where do you go to set your proxys to a different 'value'?  This one I've never heard of before!

Cheers!

 Smile  BrawnyDawg,
First welcome to the site I hope you enjoy and the Reverend is quite knowledgeable with DirecWay, so someone will be able to help with most any problem you have concerning your connection. I cant speak in reference to DirecWay but in IE 6 tools, INTERNET options,,connections,LAN settings and your there....I am using a proxy right now, I use it because if I want to remove things from a web page I can, using a pgm I have that helps to do this. But I'm also at a loss as to why his problem is happening because I have never had to do anything for my bank or any other URL. It is possible that secure got turned off or did you just start using a proxy server? So the first time you went to banking it didnt work?I do get errors sometimes but thats due to the pgm not reading something and I just re-click and all is well.... What proxy are you using and why? Once we know that we cant start to get a handle on your question. If we are talking the same thing you will have to go to advanced and enter the same local host and port for secure,FTP, gopher, socks,if thats what you want, or you could check use same proxy server for all protocols if thats what you want...........A word of caution, any changes made in this area can cause you to not be able to get on the INTERNET if you mess up, so be sure of what you are doing, or I guess if I knew what you were doing I wouldn't be nervous about you changing these values, so if you can it would be better if we can "talk" b4 you do this....but thats up to you as you know we and everyone warn ppl to make changes at your own risk, but we haven't fried one yet that I'm aware of.......LOL...good luck and tell your friends about testmy.net Smile Smile

Microwave ....I had him "check" the two proxy boxes in IE6 because with DWay configurations it will actually add another 200Fbps to the 'download' speeds, and that's the only reason it is on.  (But that doesn't have a DAMN thing to do with 128-bit security such as a banking institution would use, so my mind is reeling here.  (But I love new challenges)!

Cheers!
*Just got an e-mail from Damon ....my LAN Guide has been posted to the Guides section.  I also asked him about the Green Stars.  lol...put the heat on him!

Oh.  It just dawned upon me that you may have to enter the secure website's name in the same box where I had you add the 192.168.0.1 stuff, because secure websites use proxy as a filter for incoming and outgoing data ...to keep it 100% safe.  So, since their name isn't listed in that box, their Servers are simply having you 'adapt' your browser so that nothing is compromised in the way of security ...solely in your best interests.

*Sorry for "the brainfade" there Brawnydawg ...but it took a while for the 'grey-matter' to engage on that one! DUH!  lol....

Cheers!

Remember I am using Mozilla -
So I need to add each site? Do I put a comma or semicolon between them?
It won't let me into the DirecWay  "my DirecWay site' either. i have two bank accounts one credit card and a subscription weather site that I can't get in. I guess I will need to get all the numbers and enter??  where do you get the numbers or do you put the web addy in?

My speed did ick up by checking the boxes.

Thanks for the help guys!

You would put a semicolon between each entry.  But, since you are using Mozilla, I am not the one to be asking about such a security sensitive issue because I just do not have the latest security info for that browser.  It should allow you into DirecWay assuming you have setup an account for yourself (nothing "secure" about that place)!  What I mean is that in order to make full use of www.myDirecWay.com you need to "form" an account complete with Username and Password ...if you have already done this yet can't get in I would just make another account and forget about your old one!  (You can always delete the old one after creation of the new).

As far as putting your banking info and credit card info "on the line", I would personally advise against doing such until they get the kinks out of the systems.  They are still too many ppl who have the software to 'crack' your protection (it's only 128-bit) then steal your ID ...so it isn't worth it is it?

But! Hey, if it works for you no worries.  (But I am clueless as to how you need to safely enter that info using Mozilla).  Sorry!  However, I will check into that for you and get back to you with specifics ..I'll just place a call to Mozilla and get it from the horses mouth  (you might want to do the same and then we can compare notes)?  lol...

*Checking those proxy boxes will always kick up your speed.  DirecWay doesn't want you to know that though ....they'd rather reserve all the bandwidth they can.  I'm pleased it worked for ya!

Hey there brawndawg,

You may find this info of interest. http://kb.mozillazine.org/index.phtml?title=Letters_to_Online_Banking_Services

Seems that mozilla has a few security issues (less than IE though), and perhaps you should consider getting into Firebox (it IS a killer little browser)!  I would use it more but the majority of my programmes are 'welded' into my IE6 ...so I depend upon my security software to make up for what IE6 is lacking in.  If you like, I can supply you with all the info for making IE6 as close to Fort Knox as possible.

I DO NOT wish to see you place your banking info on the line with a 'shaky' browser, and many banks can't quite handle mozilla yet, but they won't admit to it (the folks at Mozilla just told me that one "flat out."  Also, it is noteworthy that they suggested Firefox if you are going to be using a browser for Internet Banking!  So, that's the handwriting on the wall isn't it?

Which way you turn is a matter of preference.  If you have alot of IE6 related security software, that's still a good browser in my humble opinion, but as you can see by that article ....the greater majority are strongly recommending that it NOT be used due to credit card theft ...and that is nothing to overlook or take lightly man!  ...but you already know that!  Smile

Lemme know what you find works best.  This "field" is constantly changing and I like to keep pace with it.  TY!
