First of all, Hey!
      Ive been browsing these forums for a few days and finally registered. I see there is alot of helpful information but i tried some and my speed stays the same. One question i had was the use of Proxies that most of you guys use.. Why? How?

I have a DW6000 Personal System and these are my speeds..

::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 593 Kbps about 1 Mbps (tested with 748 KB)
Download Speed is:: 72 kB/s
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/
Bottom Line:: 11 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 14 second(s)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=4JNG89KLD

Signal Strength: 81
Longitude: 117 West
Receive Frequency: 1170.0 MHz

Nothing to amazing compared to the broadband i had befor i moved in the middle of nowhere =P

Someone gimme a hand, i would much appriciate it..

       Thanks ,
                 Gary "Wizdoms"

Welcome to the forum.

Try the larger test, 2992 one.

Looks like your Satmex 5, good signal.

Hey there Wizdoms^!

As I was explaining to you in the other posts about you still using ICS along with your DW6000, you'll get far better speeds (around 1000Fbps) if you ditch ICS and let your Router act as your DHCP Server (even though the 6000 has it's own ...it is 'barebones' so you'll fair better with a REAL router.  Combining ICS (old technology) with the DW6000 (new tech), is causing conflicts and therefore cutting your speed in half because the 6000 is getting "false info" from your system.  In a nutshell, the DW6000 is Self-Hosting, so if you "force" ICS into the scheme of things, you are running a dual-hosted system ...and the result is a heavy load on the CPU (extra cycles), and rotten performance from your DW6000!

Won't take you but a few minutes to switch everything over so that your PC is a client just like the rest, and for the speed gains and amount of labor you'll be taking off your present "host" ...it's well worth the time invested in doing!  C'est pas?

Cheers!

*wmmc -  Regarding the "proxys", if you are using a DW6000 and IE6, you can add another 200Fbps to your speed by going into Tools ---->Internet Options ---->Connections ---->LAN Settings and 'checking' both boxes there for proxys.  Then, click on the Advanced tab and make sure it says 192.168.0.1 on Port 87.  Also, for a smoother "feel" to yur browser and a better connection from your browser to the DW6000, under the Advanced tab (at the bottom) is an Exceptions 'box".  Cut n Paste the following into that box then restart your browser ...she'll run a bit better with this info in there.  Here ya go:  DirecWaysupport.com;192.168.0.*
