I am new to this list.  I have read many of the post on improving speeds. I recently upgraded from Chater 1.5 to 3 meg but am not getting the full 3 meg speed.  I used Cablenut to try some tweaks and the best I have achieved for downloads is shown below.
Download Stats ..:::
Connection is:: 2603 Kbps about 2.6 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB)
Download Speed is:: 318 kB/s
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/
Bottom Line:: 46 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 3.22 second(s)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=2SUDGHE5A

I am getting better speed after the Cablenut tweaks;   You can call me cheap, but since I am paying more for the 3 meg service I would like to hit 3 meg at least once.  I connect through a linksys 802.11b and am running XP Pro with SP2.  Should I just keep playing with Cablenut?  I have emailed Charter Tech Support and they said they would re-task my modem.  I powercycled the cable modem a few times and the speed did improve.  I have deleted all temp files and cleared all caches.  No TSR's that I know of.  Any suggestions or additional tests to run?  Thanks.

heyas chip Smile

i think you using the old version of my tweaks, try this

download cablenut 4.08 and vanburens_cablenut_settings_2versions.zip  (If you still have cablenut installed, just download the settings)

you find them here http://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=1013.0 [testmy.net]

after you installed cablenut, unzip vanburens_cablenut_settings_2versions.zip to C:\Program\Cablenut

now open cablenut adjuster, click delete cablenut tweaks + click save to registry, now all fields suppose to be blank

now go to top left corner, click file, click open custom settings file and browse to this

C:\Program\Cablenut\vanburens_cablenut_settings_version_2\VanBurens cablenut settings Version 2\WinXP_2K_CABLE_DSL\MSS1460

dubble click on Cable & DSL 3000 384.ccs  ( if your upload cap is 384 Kbps )

click save to registry again

reboot your pc and shut off your modem and router for 30 seconds

and do a new tweaktest and speedtest and post result

good luck

I could not locate the .vanburens_cablenut_settings_2versions.zip file you mentioned but downloaded and installed the cablenut update for 4.08 which contained a 3000 - 384 file.  My upload is 256 so I used the 300 - 256.css file.

I powercycled the modem and router.  Purged all internet temp files.  Much slower.
