FYI

Sent an email to DirecWay Support regarding speeds. Got a nice email with several things to try and four sites to test download speeds. My speed has been great since the email. I did nothing to tweak system etc. Running a DW6000, Windows XP. I just hope it stays this way. I enjoy the posts and the site very much.

Hi there Boater50 and allow me to welcome you to testmy.net!

If you have done nothing to tweak, then you are in for a treat!  If you will refer to the Post below or above yours that I just left for SatGuy, you will find all the beginning info to get your speeds up there a bit higher, and greatly smooth out your browser in the process.  (And get less error, less "hangs".....etc).

Check it out if you wish and let me know what worked best for your configuration!  I am always (mostly) very handy to my machine, so if you hit a glitch either Post or e-mail me directly and we'll resolve your issue(s)!

Thanks for dropping in and don't be a stranger!  (Those are nice speeds for an untweaked config)!  Oh, I am not being biased when I tell you that this website is the world's most accurate for determining your speeds within a scant few Kbps.  Everything is totally compressed so that the margin of error has been eliminated.  Even DirecWay sends everyone to this Forum for answers and to the website for speed checks!  Can't beat it.  Smile

Cheers!  (and thanks again)!!

Reverend,

Thanks for the advise on the tweaks. Here id the first test after I applied them. I just hope these speeds will remain into the week during peak times. Will have to wait and see.

HEY THAT IS MORE LIKE IT!!!!!!  yes!  You can expect your speeds to be higher on weekends and slower on weekdays ....as usual, but you can now always rest assured that unless something is wrong at NOC (maryland) you'll run faster than before, and most likely faster than at the moment because DWay is holding back just a tad right now.  Try it at like 5:00AM (2992 test) for the very best idea ...you may be pleasantly surprised.  Mine is only a bit faster than yours at this second ...so you are "in the pink."

Cheers!

Thanks for your data:  That means you are on SatMex5 117ºW @ 1170MHz  (which is a nice stable satellite).  In the near future, the may move you to the new one, Horizons 1 at 127ºW @ 1390MHz .....but that is nothing more than a maybe, so don't give it any thought!  Smile
