One of the mods is looking for dsl users to run some tests using different ideas. That is your best bet. In fact you will see in this forum dsl users needed. Start a new post and he will give you the low down. I did my best to help him. With me. Dsl is just faster using xp default. I try to tweak it and my speeds turn to poo.........

also reboot your modem for 30 seconds, when you using router, set your NIC to 100 Mbps full duplex

and when you connect direct to the modem, use autodetect

This may seem strange but  is your dsl modem with in 6 ft of your microwave, Floresent lights, cell phones,Wireless routers ,  Or 3ft from any other electical device  try wraping your modem in Window screen(Metal)  see if that helps if it does i would move the modem.  Also Call Your ISP and ask them to check your Port Rates and SNR.

P.S. DSL Has 10% overhead for ATM frames  and about 3% for TCP/IP

Thats sounds odd.
My modem has stacked ontop of my router and i get a usual 1.3Mbps out of my 384 to 1500 Kbps plan.

I have a westell versalink and when i log in it gives the speed 1792/448 but when ever I do a speed test like on dslreports I get like 641k/373 my upload is ok, just the download is real low, ive tried the cablenut tweaks and it not improving, Im guessing it has to do with Service Pack 2 because all our computers has it and all get around 600k on speed test even with the other computers turned off. I had my ISP run the test and they say the line is ok. Restarting didnt help.

Routers dont cause much of a problem but lights and cell phones really kill your sync may not be enough for you to loose connection but it will cause you to lose packets. the best way to find out is to get your error count your isp should be able to provide this to you.

heya Worlddrknss Smile

download this http://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=1013.0;id=411

unzip it to  C:\Program\Cablenut

then try diffrent files in this folder

C:\Program\Cablenut\VanBurens_cablenut_settings_version_3\vanburens_cablenut_settings_version_DSL\DSL\WinXP_2K\MSS1452

eg

DSL PPPoE 1000 384 and DSL PPPoE 3000 384

report back what file that works best for you, remember to click save to registry and reboot each time, also powercycle your modem for 30 seconds when rebooting
