Database Crash
«
on:
December 05, 2006, 01:32:33 PM »
Last night during maintenance we had a database crash. It was a really bad crash and unfortunately I was forced to resorting to backups.
Although the backup was recent (just two days ago) for some reason only 1.6 million entries were backed up. So we have lost 10-19-2006 to present. I'm very sorry and I can assure you I've tried everything in my power to resolve the issue but the data is simply lost. The crash mixed with a bad backup has left me with my hands tied behind my back. The forum database is backed up with great frequency but the scores database is only backed up once a month or so.
This problem will lead me to working on redundant database servers to make sure something like this never happens in the future.
Score logging should kick back on shortly after a reboot of server2.
again... very sorry to those of you that were tracking connections.

yeah, I think most people won't mind too much.
... many people will have to re-do their sigs.
It will still be some time before the database comes back online, I have a batch running. I will update the thread when everything is back to normal.

Yeah, most others and myself will survive this little thing. At least we are still on. Sorry things keep on happening. I am sure it will get better though.
Again thanks so much CA3LE for the site.

Ahhh... time to invest in a better back-up scheme?
I think everyone can live with having to re-test.. as we all know it is an addiction..

I don't have any problems with the loss but I am curious as to how you are entering in these posts with your hands tied behind your back, voice command for text or very flexible?
Thanks for all your effort.

Now I know what "such a mall thing" means, I always thought my sister-in-law meant "male thing" when it was just an excuse to go to the "mall".
Thanks for the enlightenment.
