i am in waterloo, iowa and my upload is 500Kbps, but my download is going hell of a lot slow. Is your like that too?

If I had mediacom I would tell you. It could  be the time of the day. Have you tried tweaking?
just checked on dsl reports and people that have mediacom are posting the same stuff. so it is mediacoms problem.
