Hey guys  Smile.  I've been learking around this site quite a lot and thought I'd try to get some help. :]

Well I got my 15/2mb from Cox a few days ago, the first couple days I got the connection I was going about 10mbs on the tests here, but now I go around 4-5. :/

I can get around 2mb/s with Reget (downloading large files), but I was wondering if I could do better without any accelerators.  I set the TCP Optimizer to the 15mb speed, I was gonna try cablenut, but I had no idea what was going on, lol.

btw, does it matter if you use an ethernet or a usb cable?  Thnx.

Welcome , Krul,  the only answer I have for you is the USB or Cat5 , They say USB is much slower. Due to the bus it uses. Correct me if im wrong about the bus :)There are many guru's here that will hook you up . Enjoy.

BTW have you checked out these threads yet? http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-1013

Thnx for the welcome, as I was leaving to go to sleep I realized I forgot to include the following ([me]<--lame):

1.) I'm using Windows XP, service pack 2.
2.) I have the 15/2mb connection from Cox.
3.) The only tweaking program I tried was the TCP Optimizer (set to 15mb).
4.) I received "You are not allowed to access this section" trying to get the tracert and ping program.

nitro.ucsc.du:

5.) Done that.
6.) Done that.
7.) Usb isn't being used, but I don't know how to change the 'NIC' :[.
8.) Done that.
9.) Done that.
10.) I don't use zone alarm anymore.
11.) I have Sygate Personal Firewall Pro installed.
12.) Viruses scanned for by AVG. -none found
13.) I have all the windows updates.
14.) Done that.
15.) I don't know what file to use.
16.) I haven't built my own file.

@mudmanc4:  Ima look at those links tomorrow since I have a couple tests 1st+2nd period tomorrow, thnx for the reply.

@all: Thnx for taking the time to look into my problems.

I noticed there is "other traffic congesting the connection" Iether you may have some spyware running, or you have another box,  running while your testing. Just two possibilities.
 Try this spybot.com

oops sorry for the link guys.
you could also  run cmd type netstat to see active connections on your box.

If it says you don't have access it means your windows account doesn't have admin rights. So the tweaks you are trying to apply aren't working.
