Here it is:
Have a laptop on the network at home (Windows Media) and I have it hardwired to the router with my Cat5 (don't like wireless) and I have set it up to the home network.  I can access files on any other computer from the laptop, but when I try to access the laptop from another client access is denied for some reason, anybody  have any ideas?

thats not it. you need to configure windows to allow it. run the network setup wizard, the option for it will be in there i think it is the last step or one of the last.

Yeah, said it was done already and also it is installed in the properties.  I ran the setup wizard, everything checks out there, disabled all firewalls on the computer, it has a valid IP address for my network, can see and access all other computers, and can copy files to other computers on the network, but just cannot be accessed by anybody, have tried from 4 other computers there.

make sure your network name is the same on all pc's. It should be MSHOME or whatever your other one's are.

Are you prompted for a password, or given an error message?

No, the network wizard sets up correctly, I've manually opened the necessary ports to connect, yet still I get the error host is not accessible.  Access denied...
