                 BLAZING Broadband Satellite Connection by DirecWay

This makes sending digital pics fun!...always on.....superfast web browsing? This is about like driving a car with three tires on it or a having a brand new car in the garage with no engine. Im on a thirty day trial, this is starting to bug me! Good signal on Horizons1, better than average downloads, clean system and still have crap uploads and dial up web browsing. Seems like it take three secs  before each page begins to load?  evil1

Not really sure of what's happening with you, but I found that by cleaning out cookies, deleting temp files, clearing history, all make for better sat performance. I just joined here yesterday, and already, by following a few of the posts I've read, I have increased my performance. I'm still figuring out some of the stuff on this forum, and exploring, and eventually, I'll be able to post speed results. I wish you could direct link to the individual speed test results, but this forum isn't set up that way.  I'm not really sure that the upload part of the test works very well ,if you have a firewall. I have other test sites, that seem to give different upload speeds when tested there. The download speeds have been very close to what this test says.  I look forward to replys to this post. Let's hope there are some BD51 Very Happy

Fikester,
There is an available upload tweak.
1.Click start run and type regedit
2.***before you change any settings save your registry***
3.click
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Services
AFD
4.Right Click on AFD and select New, and Key name the new Key Parameters
5.click on parameters
6.on the right side (default) will appear under default right click/ new/ dword value
7.name the dword value DefaultSendWindow and set the value too 18000 for windows XP or 17a00 for windows 2000
8.restart your comp.

If you don't like the settings delete perimeters and DefaultSendWindow. Or load your backed upped settings.
Also setting MTU discovery to true in Dr. TCP will help.

These tweaks doubled my upload from an GREAT 17KB to an Extreme 34KB LOL

I am on a DW6000 with the basic 169MB FAP. Originally the tweak was for DW4000/4020 users, I think, but it seemed to work fine for helping my upload a bit. ;) My upload isn't great; one thing have been wondering about is if you re-point you dish to increase SS , do this effect your upload?

OH Yeah sorry if I caused confusion the speeds from one of my last posts are the upstream speeds not the actually upload speed. The actual upload speed is like 4kbs.  evil6

::::::::::.. Upload Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 111 Kbps about 0.1 Mbps (tested with 97 KB)
Upload Speed is:: 14 kB/s
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/
Test Time:: Wed Feb 2 08:03:37 EST 2005
Bottom Line:: 2X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 73.14 sec
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/id-7XL5BOCQV

my dish seems to be peaked out at around 70.... during heavy clods and snow drops tp around 65. The DirecWay dish is said to be much more sensitive to adjustment than the directv dish (so I've heard... lol) just a width if a pencil lead will be very noticeable or drop your connection completely? As the Rev mentions in one of his post mark your starting spot as a reg backup.Ive read many places the signal strength just keeps you running in inclement weather.it does not indicate speed.

WOW!!! Fikester those are superb upload speeds.  ;) I wish I could get some thing like that. Unlike your 114kb upstream I get like 34. LOL Laughing Oh well I guess 34 is better that the 17kb upstream i was getting originaly. Anways,  I followed the Rev's directions and attemped to tweak my dish but didn't get gain anything but 1 ss.  Sad Well I'm glad to see such good upload speeds for you.

Fikster...I to am having the crappy speeds. This morning my system was blazing at 95+ on the access and around decent on the upload speeds. Now it won't even finish the upload test within two minutes. It does give me about 155 or so on the access now and 25 on the download. I've gotta complain to them again. They've gotta get me above 200 constantly for me to even do my school work. I need to constantly upload grades for my students and the stupid system freezes up. How do you reach level 2 tech support, ask for it or make a certain number of calls?

The upload tweak may not work for everyone, but for me it does. I did make a change to it. Instead of using 18000 or 17a00. I use b000. It works for me.
