hi willy saxon

all righty...here's the deal...is that bad ? well we dont know

u'd have to tell us what kind of package u're subscribing for....u know the advertised download/upload speed

rule of thumb is, if u're not getting at least 90% of your advertised speed you should probably try tweaking it, if that doesnt work: have a little chat with u'r provider - when it comes to tweaking just follow this guide, im almost positibe that u'll get more out of ur connection if u use it:
http://www.luwigie.com/tweaks/ - it's pretty easy to tweak ur connection if u follow those simple steps

also, if u visit this thread
http://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=1013.0 and take a look at the first post made by CA3LE, you would find few attachements u can download (for use with the cablenut) - u wanna get Van Buren's cable nut settings

and also....if u wanna get most out of ur computer, make sure you're using proper antivirus, antispyware software and that u update it from time to time

another hint:
When you need help with tweaking then add these things in your post.
1. What OS are you running, ex win 98, win xp
2. What service do you have, what is the advertised speed for download/upload.
3. What tweakprograms you already got installed, and run this test
http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks [www.dslreports.com] copy and paste result URL adress in your post!
5. What speed do you have against
www.testmy.net [www.testmy.net] and
http://nitro.ucsc.edu/ [nitro.ucsc.edu] also make a tracert, go to start-run type command and hit enter, type tracert testmy.net and hit enter, right click copy all and paste it in your post.
6. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need.
7. Open Internet Explorer and select tools - internet options - connections -
LAN settings, make sure nothing there is checked.
8. Connect your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it depend on the ISP service unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL. If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware.
9. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 30 seconds.
10. Download and update then do a scan with SpyBot
http://beam.to/spybotsd [beam.to] and Ad Aware
http://www.lavasoft.com/support/download [www.lavasoft.com] to remove any spyware
11. ZoneAlarm firewall has known problems with dropping speed, i suggest to uninstall it and compare speed
12. Install Outpost Firewall
http://www.agnitum.com [www.agnitum.com]\ or Sygate Firewall
http://www.sygate.com/ [www.sygate.com]
13. Scan for viruses with your antivirus app, if you do not have one get one, AVG is great
http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php [www.grisoft.com]
14. Make sure you have ALL of the latest Windows Updates
15. Download and run CCleaner
http://www.ccleaner.com/ [www.ccleaner.com]
16. download and install Cablenut 4.08 and Vanburens cablenut settings 2 versions here
http://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=1013.0 [testmy.net] unzip settings to C:\Program\Cablenut
(borrowed from Van Buren's post)

hope u can get that speed tweaked
