My answer to you is I would just laugh and have fun with it.

You remind me of the British Sergeant Major I worked with in Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Shield and Storm. He and I were contemporaries. We both ran Criminal Investigation offices for our respective countries. He was in the British Army Special Investigation Branch and I was in the United States Marine Corps Criminal Investigation Division. I bent over backwards for him and his investigators to help them get billeting and office spaces with us so they could be safe and comfortable. His investigators loved me for what I did for them. I raised the spirits of his people as well as the people who worked for me by being happy and transferring my good feelings to them. But Mr. grumpy was not happy with me because I was always happy and making the best of a bad situation and raising the spirits of his people when his nasty mood only tore them down. The bottom line…”Don’t sweat the small stuff.” When someone is around you who displays happiness don’t try to tear them down to your level. Just be happy for them.
