I don't get why so many people are having problems with vista as well, when i used it on my Home PC i really didn't have any big problems, just a bunch of little stupid ones, and it just got annoying with the way everything works.

Windows will be much better once they start using winFS. Having a journaled file system like Mac and Linux has had for years is much better.

Oh yes WinFS is going to be sweet.  Also Windows 7 is going be alot smaller too, basically Vista is a 50 million line of code well all thats is going bye bye.  Microsoft taking away the bloat that will be the first, Are they actually listening to what customers want is more a leaner OS that can still have all the bells and wistles, i cant wait untill basically you will be able to go to a public lib or your relatives house and use there computer and download your desktop on to theres all over the net, well at least thats what i heard that will be happing with Windows 7 or maybe later,  Some good things are awaiting by 2010.

For the most the only people comlain about is the UAC well you can disable that if that annoys you.  But then you'll be taking a Risk of accidently downloading something or clicking on something that could have a possibility of accessing a component that otherwise would have been protected with UAC since it would have asked you "If your the one who wants to access this component".  Yeah it can be a pain but when it comes to security, if your not willing to take the extra step to have secure systems then dont cry when things happen and you have to do a reinstall your OS.

Thats already been done somewhat. But apple is doing exactly what you said with leopard with there new remote desktop. where you can do all that plus a ton more through iChat. And it is really quick because of some new compression they are using. I hope MS can do something like that as well that works well on windows. that way i don't have to keep getting up to fix peoples problems lol.

This seems like a silly argument to me...

Yes, Windows can be dll hell, and has viruses. Yes, Vista freezes or eats up resources if misconfigured, and has a few bugs (remember how many patches and service packs it took XP to work those out?). I'm sure Vista SP2 will be relatively solid, and Server 2008 is looking good.

Macs run pretty solid, but if you trash a mac, you will probably need to call tech support. Unless you know UNIX.

And, your Unix/Linux box could easily turn into a hacker's paradise if you don't know what you are doing...

But, the key is what you know...

I've known people with well-configured Windows 98 boxes that ran for 10+ years on PII processors... And there are BSD implementations that run high-traffic webservers for years.

My point is, don't trash another OS (unless it's windows ME - that was one giant mistake) - if you don't feel like using it, don't.  But whatever you do, please do your research, perform regular maintenance, and you'll keep your system running smoothly for years.

Think about this: You can quad-boot Vista, XP Pro, OS X, and your favorite Linux distribution... Or you can run them all at the same time if you've got the machine to do it (any dual-core+ Intel with >4GB RAM). So why not try them all out?*

*Note: if you do go for a multi-boot system, backup your data and definitely do a lot of research before you start.

I always wondered if putting all your toys in one little bitty box would not make it harder to fix, or work on, or upgrade.  uglystupid2

I love my mulitple piece desktop.  smitten

Thats like the old Compaq computers at my work. Half of the motherboard is under the CD and Hard Drive tray and you wonder   how in the hell can you be able to repair the computer if the manufacture puts a big motherboard in a small case  :haha:
