You could always use 7zip or any other program to decompress those files and burn them to a dvd then just update the drivers and tell it to scan the disk and that should take care of a large amount of the hardware. Or do a slipstream in mode 1 with the quickstream cache, Basically that will compress the files  so that it takes less space, and MAY fit on a cd.

While you could just use the XP cd there's alot of hardware the xp cd will not find by itself, and those driverpacks although they are setup to let you slipstream them into a windows install nothing says you HAVE to use them for that.

Well I found the solution to the problem. I got this. http://www.innovative-sol.com/drivermax/index.htm and backed up both c and d drive drivers. While this program is free and really works well, I tried it today on a fresh install job, by far the best, be careful. They want your e-mail address to send you a key. I used a "spam acount" and boy did I get nailed with spam. Its just a generic yahoo account I use for forums and this kind of stuff.

Been almost 2 days with no sign of my key as of yet. I went in search of one and found one, it works fine, unlocked it. Seems funny had to search the dark side of the net for a key for this free program. Odd.  idiot2
