Ok, well i just made this because i want to save people the torment of getting this. Its a windows powertoy that seems awesome when you read the description. Here is the description
Overview
(This release contains support for new cameras such as the Canon EOS 5D, Nikon D50, D70s, and others.)

To understand how to get the most out of the software, please see our companion whitepaper in Related Resourcess at right.

Often likened to a ‘digital negative,’ a RAW image is the native image format for a growing number of quality digital cameras. Because of the camera-specific nature of RAW files, they are not supported natively within Microsoft Windows. As a result, photographers shooting RAW have not been able to take advantage of the built-in features provided in Windows XP for viewing, organizing, and printing RAW photos--until now.

After installing the Microsoft RAW Image Thumbnailer and Viewer Powertoy for Windows XP you will be able to view, organize, and print photos captured in RAW image formats from supported Canon and Nikon digital cameras.

This software offers the following benefits to digital photographers:

    * High image quality. This software uses the camera vendors' own processing libraries to provide the highest possible image fidelity for RAW images.
    * Superior color fidelity. Windows Image Color Management (ICM) is used to render images in the correct color space as determined by the photographer when the image was captured.
    * Familiar user experience. This software builds on the familiar Windows user experience and requires little or no learning curve.
    * Performance tuned for rapid previews. The software uses background processing and other techniques to ensure a good preview experience even for large images.

Ok sounds great....NOT

Basically this is just the default windows picture and fax viewer built into xp normally...all this does is offer you info on what file type/resolution the pictures are...and it will open your photos into an image editing program of your choice...or at least its supposed to... Basically even when i tried to set it to open with GIMP or ACDsee...it would not save my settings and open the photo with MSpaint.  Ever since i installed this (which you also have to install the .net framework and other junk) My computer has gotten 2 blue screens of DEath...so i uninstalled it and now my pc is back to running smoothly. So i guess my message is..unless you have better luck then I do...or if you want to fool around on a pc that you dont mind getting the BSOD on....Dont get this powertoy from microsoft.
Its easier for me to just open up GIMP or something first instead of messing around with this anyways...
[/rant]

Ok, so now i've given my review....if anyone else has had this installed or has used it before post up about it.

Oh, timely advice Starship T,  and a big thanks for the head up on this ,
as I had been loooking to install that , I do use some power toys
wallpaper changer , and image resizer , they both work well ,
Image resizer is great for cutting down digital camera images for posting on TMN, and wallpaper changer works great for giving a new desktop image every day,
starship , may the sun shine out of your camels ass for this info  Laughing
as BSOD is smomething I ain't seen since win 98, not even on win M.E.
lol there are even  days when I think I can walk on water , but I still take swimming lesons on the odd days

I never got any BSODs using it but I did happen to find it equally crappy. No story or anything, it was just crappy.
