I am not liking this at all!  My dial up seems faster.  I would dial up @ 37.2 Kbs but I could surf the net sooooo much faster.  I have been on the phone 3-4 times with tech suport  man they suck.

Any ideas.  I am going to tell them to come and get their eq if I can not speed up.  I think it is a firewall or antivirus software conflicts??  I have installed  DirecWays downloads for tcp  etc.

Help.

I must agree with jim2006. Your speed looks just fine. Browsing for me is slow tonight as well. Slower that I have seen in recent weeks. Do you have your proxy and port settings correct? It should be 192.168.0.1 port 87. Just a basic setting for the consumer edition.

Ok these suck!  Surfing seems the same.  I just cant understand why it takes a minute to load a page that I used to load via dial up in seconds.

If I want to track a package I go to fedex.com click and wait...................................... and wait,  and wait and then hey my page loads.  It takes so long I have to get up and come back later.  I know something is way wrong here.  I am way to dumb to figure it out.  I would think DirecWay would want to help me.  Oh well.  I am calling them to de install my eq.

What a joke. angry5

If your using a secure site page loading will be very slow.(Never seen this advertised either before purchased) Download speeds are great for downloading large files etc... for general web browsing the upload speed seems to play a big part in how snappy the connection seems. When my upload drops ( most often it takes 10mins or more to send a 350Kb picture), thats when the wait between pages extends, upload goes up the waiting between much quicker. Now if you set your alarm and wake about 3am all works much better...that tells me the problem is on there end not mine.The bandwidth is all hogged up during peak hours and every day more customers are added.The home users must get the leftover from commercial accounts?

Previously I was on a capped cable connection of 128Kbps.....so the DirecWay tremendously improved large file downloads, but for general web browsing or sending digital pic etc.... no. And as many say during busy times I would take a gamble to say a good dial up connection (28.Cool would  be faster for uploading and web browsing. Even though you might be able to download a file in a few secs...you still will most often wait for several seconds in between pages before you see anything happen? I guess it depends on what you do online....for me general web browsing is 85% of my use. My opinion is the upload speed needs to improve to keep customers happy.

Fikester- Exactly!  I guess this system just sucks!  I also spend about 85% of my time browsing.

My dialup will load my banks website in under 1 second,  DirecWay 10 seconds.  Is this right?  Can I get it to load faster?  Or go back,  It takes it 10 times longer to "Go Back"

"Dialup (@ 37.2 Kbs)is 10 time faster then DirecWay (@ 964 Kbs download)when loading a webpage!"
 I have told this to my former ISP.  They want to use this in their new add.  I think I am getting a free dialup account with them!

Any Ideas.
I am running  win xp on a P4 3.0 w/ 1 GB Ram
Have tried:
TCP optimizer
CC Cleaner
CableNut4
LCCU 4.0

Greetings: Found this site via "Advanced Support" courtesy of DirecWay last night, at least now I can stop crying and "get real" with my new DirecWay DW6000connect.Have had installed for 2.5 weels,lost my desktop (fatal-error crash,can only boot to a DOS prompt...) in the "installation muck"(their "tech" who installed was a joke...)seldom-used notebook crashed, (I recovered thanks to a paid call to Microsoft help!) and my Mac is running like a top! Shhhh...I have spent too many hours of my time on this stuff as well.I live on a rural ranch in So Texas and was "used to" slow dialup,spent a bunch of money having this put in,have a "custom bracket mount" and dual-hardwire setup for the dish,wireless Ethernet for notebook ,(the units are NOT networked...God help me!)etc etc....it still sucks,as well-noted above! Last night was my third-call to an "Advanced Tech" who was "helpful" but tried to "blame" everything and everyone else for 571 down speed 0-2 up speed on Windows XP!!! I was more than PO'D...he finally "admitted" that perhaps the satellites I was "on" was having "issues" after a 45 min. conversation during which we changed the registry settings in XP,installed and "ran" the "I'm not supposed to tell you about "TCOP Optimizer,and tried everything in the book!THEN he said to me,and I quote:"Well...let's give it a couple of days and see if they get the "dish issue" resolved:if I take this upsatirs(?)the engineers will say that as long as she's got good numbers on her Mac (OSX Jaguar,789up 58down) ie,and one out of three systems running,what's the big deal???"Then he suggested I "call back in a couple of days":can you say "brick wall? I thought I was hearing things...2.5 weeks ago,I had three nice machines(2 Dell units and an iMac)running at peak even on a crap dialup w/Earthlink...now I have a Dell-doorstop,a Dell notebook that has crashed ,been recovered but is running like a POS,and admittedly,my Mac,which was my INITIAL concern,is managing beautifully! I will stay posted to see what/if anything changes,this "DirecWay Disaster" was my xmas gift from my guy,from what I've experienced,they are selling a system that they can't support! Best to all!

Have tried:
TCP optimizer
CC Cleaner
CableNut4
LCCU 4.0

jlester keep in mind that tweaking a 6000 modem is a no-no due to the fact that its a self hosting system.  The only tweaks that you should do are the ones that the Rev provided in this post here:

LLLL-  Oh.  Well I will go back to those settings provided in your link.  I did the TCP Optimizer yesterday.  Did not know about the modem.  this is post the following upload tweak.

1.Click start run and type regedit
2.***before you change any settings save your registry***
3.click
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Services
AFD
4.Right Click on AFD and select New, and Key name the new Key Parameters
5.click on parameters
6.on the right side (default) will appear under default right click/ new/ dword value
7.name the dword value DefaultSendWindow and set the value too 18000 for windows XP or 17a00 for windows 2000
8.restart your comp.

If you don't like the settings delete perimeters and DefaultSendWindow. Or load your backed upped settings.
Also setting MTU discovery to true in Dr. TCP will help.

These tweaks doubled my upload from an GREAT 17KB to an Extreme 34KB LOL(They did the following to me)

::::::::::.. Upload Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 4 Kbps about 0 Mbps (tested with 579 KB)
Upload Speed is:: 0 kB/s
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/

Bottom Line:: 0X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 0 sec
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/id-8RS61APWL

I will redo tcp optimizer

I too find that my dial-up was  MUCH FASTER than DirecWay 6000.  Performed all the possible steps to improve, but nothing has worked.  TIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If anyone has been allowed to break/cancel their membership to Direway successfully w/o penalty, please let me know.

Thanks all!
