Have you had any problems with spyware? ~~ that can bog your S#!t too.

That is the same modem I have (I highly reccomend it) ~~~ but windows ME is lame! ~~~ also are you hooking up through ethernet or USB ~~ try to switch it to the USB if you are on ethernet and vice verse ~~ this will eliminate trobleshooting the ethernet port or the USB port.......... if you are on ethernet and find you get better speeds on USB ~~~ buy a new ethernet card, but use USB temp.

Stop into any of the Cox Stores valley wide and pick one up for free...  No need to wait in line just walk up to the first availible rep.

Store list >> http://www.Cox.com/Phoenix/retail/retail-centers.asp

What's the advertised speed you should be getting, microwave? Here, they promote an 'up to 2 Mbps' service -- I get 1.4.

well i went and chatted with a Cox person on their support chat, and he let me know something WAS wrong with the connection in my area, and that the tech's were aware of it. But it was not known when it would be fixed, however, not 1 hour ago my internet kicked off, came back (X2) now my speed looks more like this

::: Download Stats :::
Connection is: 865 Kbps about 0.9 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB)
Download Speed is: 106 kB/sec
Auth Code: 2012976 (validate at http://www.testmy.net)
Bottom Line: 15 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 9.66 second(s)
Validation Link :: http://testmy.net/cgi-bin/auth_check.cgi?ta=&top=&align=&num=2012976&Kbps=865&gen=gen&a=9.14285714285714&b=1.71428571428571&c=1145.14285714286

still only what? 25% of what i should be getting? i guess a boost is a boost Razz

ecliptic,
I run Windows ME, and I'm not about to argue with these fine folks on here, but I love ME.

Out of curiosity, have you checked your system resources to see what they are running after a fresh reboot? ME is a hog for system resources, and will slow your system to a crawl unless you keep start-up menu to a minimum.
Right click on my computer, left click on properties, then performance tab. If system resources are below 50% after a fresh reboot, you might consider removing un-needed items from your start-up menu.

See Here:

Good luck,

Well XP and NT don't display system resources the same as ME and 98/95

... but my memory commit (system resources) usually runs at about 92% free ~~~ Smile ~~ winXP is the shiznit!

77% free, thats while quite a few things loading tho Razz, but yeah, i dont know how that helps  Confused   i really would like it if
*gets on soapbox*
<rant>Cox WOULD GET OFF THIER ASS AND FIX THIS S#!t</rant>
*steps off the soapbox*
its better than dialup, but if im paying for a 3000/256 line, i should get a 3000/256 line(take for reasonable interference, distance from server, clog on server, ect.)
maybe if i tell them to upgrade my line it will get better? lol i dont know...
