I suddenly have started getting speeds of about 1.7 mbs on RCN cable in NYC. I used to be getting at least 3.8 mbs. How could it change so suddenly? And it isn't traffic because i've tried late at night even on saturday its slow. I called and they said because it's above 1 mbs they can't do anything......ugh whats goin on?

This is my guess... either one of two things happened...
1) NYC's backbone got really loaded or you ISP is having bandwidth problems...
2) You modem got sent a new speed cap packet..
Ca3le might be able to explain more..

The likely cause, is a new configuration file.
All glory to uncappers.
(within reason.. just to get what you pay for)
