BTW, I know that I can upload at about 8 Mbps, but this test doesn't reflect it for some reason.

Yep.  It's tweaked.

On HTTPI have uploaded as fast as 1.1 MB/s so about 8.8Mbps.  On bittorrent I have actually uploaded at 2.3 MB/s (18.4 Mbps)  On dslreports' test I am able to show my full upload speed plus a faster download rate of about 22-30 Mbps.  The fastest that I have ever downloaded in a real world download was about 3MB/s (24 Mbps).

Here are a couple of examples from DSLR, which I tested on yesterday.

2004-06-25 12:33:10 Speed test @ chi.speakeasy.net 21981/7315 Kbps
2004-06-25 12:33:03 Speed test @ chi.speakeasy.net 16744/7907 Kbps
2004-06-25 12:32:48 Speed test @ chi.speakeasy.net 22411/7599 Kbps
2004-06-25 12:32:27 Speed test @ chi.speakeasy.net 21315/8015 Kbps

Aw, ya caught me!  I was gonna wait to reveal the secret that that is my work connection until some one asked who my ISP was.   wink

If you really want to see what I'm stuck on when I am not at work:

::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 1235 Kbps about 1.2 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB)
Download Speed is:: 151 kB/sec
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/
Bottom Line:: 22 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 6.78 second(s)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=SBYUT2K1F

::::::::::.. Upload Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is: 19 Kbps about 0 Mbps (tested with 97 KB)
Upload Speed is: 2 kB/sec
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/
Bottom Line: 0 times faster than 56K you can upload 1MB in 512 second(s)
Validation Link :: http://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=7OXYSWSTR

That upload is all that I usually get...  Satellite really sucks, but it's all that I can get out here.

Sorry if I annoyed any of you by having a little fun  wink .  I would have told you eventually! Embarassed

By the way, that is fully tweaked.  That is just how bad the upload for DirecWay is...

Maybe CA3LE, you could change the upload test's page approximate times for satellite to be a little longer.

If I want to upload anything that is over, oh, 500 KBs, I either dial-up or wait for work.

Pitiful, eh?

That is horrible, when you're at that speed all the time.

Even though in upload slowness I got you beat: 14 Kbps. Did anyone ever uploaded slower that that CA3LE and still finished the test?

luwigie ... ya didn't make anyone mad or anything, I was just wondering Smile ~~ I post my office connection every once in a while myself Smile (best I have gotten so far was 17.3 Mbps DL and about 4 Mbps UL

RTB --- yes, there have been actually quite a few recorded scores since I opened the new database that are far lower than yours... I have 3 people that only got 4 Kbps and have dozens and dozens of people that got 5-6-7 Kbps --- here is the first page (30 results on that query)

My admin tool is writen for myself so my queries I pull aren't formatted... because I don't care Laughing .  Results are read as follows
[testID - speed in Kbps - Test Size - CompID - Date format{YYYYMMDD}]

Again... this in only the first 30 out of over 1000 in my database that are upload tests under 20 Kbps --- pretty sad huh... hate to be you guys

What is really sad is that I just did the same search... but on download tests... there are about 700 sad people out there that got download scores under 20 Kbps ......  :haha: BAH HA HA HA HA  :haha: , poor bastards, maybe they are on cell phones  Razz

Later!

500 bytes per second  Shocked

I guess it can always be worse. Maybe someday, someone tests 1 Kbps for either download or upload. It might be me  Mad

When I go into another part of Michigan where one of my relatives lives, I get about 4000/384 even though the speed is 3000/384.  I love going over there because I get to play with decent speeds where no ports are blocked and I don't get in trouble for downloading too much (which I have done at work).  I work at a school which is connected to Internet2 though, so that's fun.

Hey luwigie, I'm a former member of DSLR.

I have internet service through Ground Control and had its up and downs lately, speeds are good though for satellite.

Cool, ground control is a VAR for Dway, right?

What do you mean you are a former member of DSLR, you know you still lurk in the sat forum, lol.

This site rules, but talking specifically about the issues that surround satellite...  No offense CA3LE, Smile
