Well... you can see my October 2003 benchmark of that with this post

http://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=178&highlight=mozilla#177

I am a bit faster myself now... and now retesting I am seeing the oposite effect

Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422.1633
::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 3845 Kbps about 3.8 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB)
Download Speed is:: 469 kB/sec
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/
Bottom Line:: 69 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 2.18 second(s)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=KNKLOGVJC

Mozilla Fireball 0.6.1
::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 3308 Kbps about 3.3 Mbps (tested with 1496 KB)
Download Speed is:: 404 kB/sec
Tested From:: http://www.testmy.net/
Bottom Line:: 59 times faster than 56K you can download 1MB in 2.53 second(s)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/cgi-bin/get.cgi?Test_ID=6M1GXOXQJ

I dunno man... I prefer Internet Explorer, it just kicks ass, and is stable Smile

I have also found that IE is faster than any other browser... Although the first release of Netscape 7 was really fast... if you dont intall the java stuff you can get faster downloads... It is wierd... Confused  Just play with it...

it's just the way that the pages are handled .. Netscape in some cases offers less overhead.  I personally would stick with IE though... but just use what you are comfortable with

Microsoft must be doing something right... only 2% of my visitors are using Netscape now, down from 30% between 1999-2002

I used to use Netscape (mozilla) myself --- but IE has been kickin' Mozilla's butt the past few years Smile

Problably the fact that it still comes standard with almost any version of Windows. Rolling Eyes

And yes, I'm an IE user. Too lazy to change Razz

Smile Well,
I have used most of the different browsers over the years,but I have found that I like IE best .I dont have a scientific reason only that it works for me and I like it.Now Ive heard all the stuff that Mac doesn't get any viruses and bla bla bla...of course I agree with that statement because it doesn't have the users that IE has and the asswipes that write viruses want to effect the most people.......so ..anyway thats my 2cents. I think the best is what YOU like and is easy for you to use:)Smile

I think that we all "grew" up with IE as the standard browser... think about it... that is why microsoft it in the legal trouble right now... What they have done is make it so my generation only really knew about IE and used it... Of course you have the odd people who are using Netscape and other varents but that is really uncommon... my website gets about 99% of its views through IE...

Well my stat is really not based on reality... I happen to run a site for my swim team lol go figure..  But it also happens that over half of the people who visit my site dont know how to use adobe acrobat... You should have seen how many problems we had with this one issue... I clearly stated that you need at least 5.0.... I had people call me about it when they didnt read and we still running 3.0...  lol   So expecting them to download a different browser other than what is installed would be like the earth ending... hmm... I wonder what would happen if I steal their computer and put a distro of linux on them...  O well that is what happens i guess Rolling Eyes
