my guess is that those areas have really big backbones... and are already equiped with fiber optics some how...

correct me if im wrong cable, but doesnt Cox have a very large backbone + fiber optics in AZ? I coulda swore i read that somewhere something about mutiple OC backbones

Just about every prodiver has fiber optics, just about all Cable and Telephone companies have been using fiber to some extent since the 80's Smile -- used mostly for the RING-in-RING redundant architecture of the backbone.

If u had thr same speed on both dsl and cable such as 3 down and 500 up.
U would get better ping with dsl then if u had cable.
