I'm kinda new to all of this tweaking your speed and all, but when I tested my download speed, it came up horrible, even though I have a good upload speed. I shut off all programs using my connection at the time also, plus I did what it said on the two sticky topics for making your speed faster. I also tweaked my settings for 4000 using cablenut, but none of this actually changed my download speed, it made my upload speed just a little faster, like 1 kB/s... Seems like my download wont go higher than 75% average because I've tested this over and over using diff tweaks and everything. I have no spyware/ad ware/viruses, because I did what was posted on the sticky.. (which got rid of hundreds of files, thank you.  Very Happy) but this still perplexes me..

My download -
::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 2657 Kbps about 2.7 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB)
Download Speed is:: 324 kB/s
Tested From:: http://testmy.net/ (main)
Test Time:: Fri May 20 02:08:49 CDT 2005
Bottom Line:: 47X faster than 56K 1MB download in 3.16 sec
Diagnosis: May need help : running at only 73.68 % of your hosts average (Comcast.net)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/stats/id-WR4K2T5H1

My upload -
::::::::::.. Upload Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 374 Kbps about 0.4 Mbps (tested with 579 kB)
Upload Speed is:: 46 kB/s
Tested From:: http://testmy.net/ (main)
Test Time:: Fri May 20 02:09:27 CDT 2005
Bottom Line:: 7X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 22.26 sec
Diagnosis: Looks Great : 9.04 % faster than the average for host (Comcast.net)
Validation Link:: http://testmy.net/stats/id-JBE1TAKVX

Any suggestions?
Thanks...

Download this Tracert and Ping program (made by PHP ) http://testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=3341.0;id=1352 and click on autocheck.exe, when its done, just right click and paste all the result in your post.

I looks like it could possibly be a problem on the server end. Try a test from one of the mirrors (editors choice is recommended) to see if you get better results.

UH whut about... NEW SERVERS! - testmy.net now runs off two Dual XEON 2.8GHz servers.  Thank you all for your support of our sponsors and donations.  Enjoy the quicker, snappier, more efficient servers!

Says that in the newsbox...
Anyway, how do I test one of the mirrors? I'll retry using the autocheck for now...
Here are the results...

Go the download test section and click on the red text that says <<Test Mirrors

As for the new servers, it's not testmy'net's fault. It seems like one of the hops(servers) on Ca3les provider is a little slow.

Slow? that's 100% of your advertised speeds. Try testing on the main server a few more times at different times of the day, if you can. You'll probably get around 4Mb
