I have several P1 100s laying around which I occasionally will run text linux on.  (I have one running my DNS server right now.)  I was thinking, it would cost me 10 dollars per machine (about 100 for all of them) to upgrage to 233 MHz chips (the biggest these machines can handle).  I figure that for this price I might as well be starting to build another more powerful machine.  I hope to get at least 200 MHz out of them and 233 MHz would be ideal.  I would step up the FSB about 15 MHz, and the multi 1x or so.  I was thinking that I would put on a high CFM 80mm fan that I have lying around with some Artic Silver 3.  If I blow a proc, oh well, I have more where that came from.  Smile

Smile Sounds like fun, we did something similar some time back except we had stability problems if we took the overclocking a bit too far....but it is cool and it will make a difference and we got to do it all for free at work.......meaning when we blew up something we didn't care because it wasn't our money.....lol.....and when chips POP it really is loud and sounds cool but , it does make ya jump....lol

I'm still trying to figure out how to use all or part of a Volcan 6CU+ with a 60 mm fan, or an 80 mm case fan that I have laying around.  I thikn some sort of rope will be used, lol.  Any one have any ideas about how to get either of these onto the current fan/heatsink combo or getting the 6CU+ on a socket 7?  Thanks!

don't really bother, those things are mad stable in most cases...  Find the biggest socket 7 heatsink you can and point a good sized fan twards it and clock away.. i ran several 66MHz chips at 233.. 100MHz should clock up to 200 just fine. bump the fsb to 66 if it's not there yet (this is usually all done via jumpers, and there's usually not a setting for 100MHz) and then set the clock up to 166, then 200 to see if it's stable... if so try 233.. you should be fine.
