This is your conscience speaking: get rid of SP2. It will do more harm than good. Rolling Eyes

Smile disturbed,
I'm not really a fan of SP2 either, although apparently it does work well for some peoples machines. Here is a link for what you seek!!And there is a reason (in theory) that it is trying to get your attention..........

I dont believe that there is a way to get rid of that bar.. it is there forever... the best way to get rid of it would be to go and download firefox....  Laughing

Smile shanee my idea on SP2 is that its not something that is necessary to have on a machine......AS long as your computer has other protection that will help stop  all the garbage that is trying to invade your Hard Drive. Now that being said for the average person I think that it may be a good idea to have this SP, I say this because you must take constant care with your P,C. or trouble will be coming,I also think that no matter what I do that it is possible for a expert to cause havoc on my machine. Sorry but this is the world we live in, its kinda like a lock on a door, it only keeps honest people honest, it will not keep out a professional crook.I also think the harder I make it for someone to get into my machine the less likely I am to have problems........they move on to easier prey!!! this whole issue is very sad because its a small number of idiots that make our Internet cruising less fun because of their actions.....So I think sp2 is a security tool that each user must weigh the pros and cons before loading on their machine!!!!

yeah pretty much.. that is the way that the world works these days... SP2 good for some but not for all...   I personally will no update.. even though I have the cd sitting on my desk... I have solved "patched" the problems by myself.. I no longer use IE, thank god for Firefox, I run Nortan Internet Security 2004 and Antivirus... I have spysweeper looking in the background..  I redo my entire machine every 90-120 day.. fresh start.. programs and everything.. this seems to be working for right now.. we will see in the future.. you know that a new pc with out any of the patches will only last about 20 min once connected to the internet?  Nuts..

Don't forget the improved wireless networking ability.  I had to install SP2 on 32 laptops last weekend for the school that I attend/work for.  It seems to have helped with the students being able to log on to the network via wireless.

the new client is a lot better!!!  that is the only real improvement that I saw when I tested the SP2 on my laptop...  It is basically the same one as the current one but with a different GUI.. Meaning that anyone can connected to a wireless network...

It is more than just an improved GUI.  The update actually makes wireless work better when logging into an active directory/group policy environment.
