helloimtim : Sorry to hear about your eye sight.Would it help for us to use bold?Or a larger font?I'm serious about this & definately not making a joke about Tim's sight.
VampireXxX: they can take care of cataracts almost always so I doubt thats Tim's problem. If he wants to let us know the cause he can.I would bet on it being diabetes related I think macular degeneration Or detached retinas from a previous injury.
Edited to normal font

Not sure what the problem is. I have spent close to a grand to get it figured out. They seem to think surgery may help. May make things worse. All they can tell me is its rare and really have no idea how to fix it. Things are just a blur. Tried glasses. No luck. Sunlight is a new experience in pain. Flipping hurts. Really dosent upset me so much as just anoys me. It could stay this way for sometime. Or get worse. No one knows. Guess dad was right. Maybey I just spent a little to much time in the bathroom. Very Happy.  With the surgery they just can not be sure til they get in there and have a peak at the back side of my eyes. If i was betting. I think its just gonna go. Same thing happend to my dad. Must be a famly flaw. With out insurance my choices are limited. Sucks but hey. Could be worse. Peace all.............

Sorry to hear about this.  Hopefully it'll hold off for a long time!
There are some software programs out there that help out with sight problems.  Dragon NaturallySpeaking and  JAWS (A screen reader) http://www.freedomscientific.com/fs_products/software_jaws.asp come to mind.  Also, there is special braille equipment out there as well that work with your computer.

Nope. No systems that I am aware of. Just started to blury and got worse from there. I just think it was the same thing that happed to my dad. His was becaue he was a diabetic. I have been tested. Things are ok there. I think it is just one of thoes strange things that happen and docs really have no answer for. Words can not express how much the concerns you all have posted mean to me. I was kinda shocked. I guess I am like most. If it happens to someone else it bothers me. But if it happens to me. Who cares. I honestly never even considerd most even careing. I just thought someplace down the road I no longer posted a few may wonder what happend. Just kinda giving a heads up type of thing. You guys and gals kinda took my by surprise there. Im in my mid 40s. Had a really great life. Great kids and more fond memories that I could have ever hoped for. Im thankful for that in a huge way. Guess thats why this little bump in the road is really no big deal to me.......Thank you all.......

I hope for the best outcome for you, Tim.
I know everyone here  would like to see you hang around here if things do take a turn for the worse.
With that, I am sure the TestMy members will do what they can to help keep you on-line.
There is a deep well of resources here that I'm confident will be able to assist with such things as voice recognition software, etc.

you said that you don't have insurance?...does your state have other insurance options?...how about a mayo clinic...maybe they could help...they do alot of work especially for rare problems at no charge thru government grants...might be worth a check into...they have a website where you could begin your search...
http://www.mayoclinic.com/index.cfm?
or they may be able to steer you in the right direction...there are many organizations for the blind that can guide you to the help you need...there should be no reason that you have to sit and wait for the other shoe to drop...i'll be asking  some people i know and a friend i have that's been blind all his life...he'll know where to go for help...lack of insurance should not be an obstacle especially when it's something that the doctors can't figure out...just don't be complacent...be pro active

...just wondering if you have any new & hopefully good news on that sight condition. As you know, there are a thousand causes for blurred/weakening vision. I was born with severe astigmatism & am an old friend of very blurry sight & night-time double-vision.
Could be a genetic condition such as 'keratoconus' or even 'myopia', you mentioned it is worsening (degenerative) which would surely be of genetic origin.
Have you had a CAT scan taken? small polyps & fatty tumors which are common in the upper nasal regions are the culprit of many a blurred vision cases.
I would also get tested for Lyme disease.
All this stuff i'm typing, i am sure you have checked out already; if not, give them a try Very Happy
Yes we do give a rats' as* to fellow members & that's real cool  heheh

Be well-
