Well I talked to a TIER 2 tech for "Cox.net" and he told me for the premier service the cap is actually set to 5400 down and 800 up try and tweak your conn to those settings.. ::::::::::.. Download Stats ..::::::::::
Connection is:: 5197 Kbps about 5.2 Mbps (tested with 12160 KB)
Download Speed is:: 634 kB/s

Notice the file size I test with..
I did the 2992 kb and it auto send me to the 12000kb
test.. My bursts are very high now.. Even though it eventually drops..
Only thing wrong with my connection is due to the hurricane..
Lots of the lines around here are fooked up..
So hopefully after they finish fixing everything.
I'll get closer to the caps..
Good luck with the new Caps settings 5400/800 not 5000/768
Please post speed results are you tweaked it to those settings.
I just wanna see if it helped you any..

i wanna get into the 6mpbs range.... Me too I just dont wanna pay for it lol.....I have the same service as you and I pay for 3000/256.. Recently I got a email from Cox that said I was now getting 4000/512 but my guess is if there was a problem, that since I pay for 3000/256 if I get close to that (within specs) there is no problem from their perspective which I would have to agree with......I have always gotten higher speeds than I pay for, which may mean not a lot of usage in my area!!!
